Breast Cancer Awareness in the Community
One of the primary goals of Curémonos is to increase the early detection of breast cancer in areas where mortality rates are especially high due to late-stage diagnosis of the disease. We educate the community on the importance of early breast cancer detection and guide women towards available resources for free screenings.
Our Day of Empowerment for Latinas in the Fight Against Breast Cancer is a day program conducted in collaboration with physicians, healthcare providers, and Latino community leaders. Guest speakers are typically breast surgeons, oncologists, genetic counselors, and representatives from the NJ Cancer Education and Early Detection Programs (NBCCEDP), as well as breast cancer survivors. Speakers focus on breast cancer prevention, early detection techniques, risk factors, and available resources in the community for free breast cancer screenings.
